Frequently Asked Questions about Our Transformation
Q: Why did we change our name from BLVCK In Tech to CERTcuit, Inc.? A: We’ve grown beyond our original focus and wanted a name that reflects our expanded mission. CERTcuit emphasizes certification, skills training, and career pathways across all STEAM fields and for all marginalized people, positioning us to scale nationally while staying true to our roots.
Q: What does the new name “CERTcuit” mean? A: CERTcuit combines “certification” and “circuit”, symbolizing both the technical foundation of STEAM careers and the structured pathways we provide to help individuals gain credentials, skills, and economic mobility.
Q: Has our mission changed? A: No. Our mission remains centered on accelerating economic mobility for underrepresented professionals in STEAM. The new name simply better reflects how we achieve it, through certification-based training, upskilling, and industry connections.
Q: Will BLVCK In Tech still exist? A: BLVCK In Tech has been fully rebranded as CERTcuit, Inc. All programs, events, and services will continue under the new name.
Q: What does this mean for current programs like the cohorts, Momentum, and Nexus? A: All programs will continue as planned, with added opportunities for growth, resources, and partnerships under the CERTcuit brand.
Q: Is the organization still a 501(c)(3) nonprofit? A: Yes. CERTcuit, Inc. is still a federally recognized nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status. We have already initiated updates with the IRS to reflect our new name.
Q: Will donations made to BLVCK In Tech still support your work? A: Yes. All past and future donations, whether made to BLVCK In Tech or CERTcuit, directly support our mission. Our EIN has not changed.
Q: How will this affect our North Texas Giving Day campaign? A: This year’s campaign will officially launch under our new name, CERTcuit, Inc., beginning August 28.
Q: How does this impact partnerships or sponsorships already in place? A: All current agreements, sponsorships, and partnerships remain valid. Only the organization’s name has changed.
Q: What can the community expect moving forward? A: A stronger, more focused organization with the same commitment to economic mobility and workforce transformation, now with a brand that better reflects our vision for scale and impact.
